- यह कहानी राजस्थान के श्रीगंगानगर शहर की है, जहाँ 11 दोस्तों ने मिलकर एक ऐसी रसोई बनाई है, जो रोजाना तकरीबन एक हजार लोगों को खाना परोसती है। महंगाई के इस दौर में भी यहाँ केवल 10 रूपये में आप भर पेट खाना खा सकते हैं। इस अनोखी रसोई का नाम है ‘माँ अन्नपूर्णा रसोईघर’
- इनमें शामिल हैं सरकारी अस्पताल के कंपाउंडर महेश गोयल, दाल मिल के मालिक रामावतार लीला, मुनीम राजकुमार सरावगी, कपड़ा व्यवसायी राजेन्द्र अग्रवाल, साड़ी विक्रेता अनिल सरावगी, व्यवसायी राहुल छाबड़ा, कपड़ा व्यवसायी पवन सिंगल, फोटोग्राफर विनोद वर्मा, व्यवसायी भूप सहारण, बिजली विभाग के कर्मचारी दीपक बंसल तथा चाय विक्रेता शंभू सिंगल।
- साफ-सुथरे वातावरण वाले रसोईघर में दिन की शुरूआत चाय से होती है, जिसकी कीमत केवल 3 रुपये है। वहीं 5 रुपये में दूध का गिलास मिल जाता है। चाय-दूध की स्टाल सुबह से शाम तक चलती रहती है। मरीजों और उनके परिजनों के लिए महज दस रुपए में दाल, सब्जी और रोटी मिल जाती है। निराश्रितों, बुजुर्गों के लिए खाना, दूध और चाय बिल्कुल मुफ्त।

- झारखंड के जामताड़ा के जिलाधिकारी आईएएस फैज अहमद ने, जिले में पुस्तकालयों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अनोखी पहल छेड़ी है। इसके तहत उन्होंने पिछले एक महीने में सात बेकार भवनों को पुस्तकालय का रूप दे दिया।
- आईएएस फैज अहमद ने द बेटर इंडिया को बताया, “इस बात के एक महीने से अधिक हो चुके हैं। एक जनता दरबार के आयोजन के सिलसिले में, मैं चेंगाडीह पंचायत गया था। इसी दौरान, किसी शख्स ने कहा कि अगर यहाँ लाइब्रेरी होता तो, इससे हमें काफी मदद मिलती। उनके इस अपील के बाद, मैंने इस दिशा में कुछ सार्थक करने का विचार आया।”
- फैज बताते हैं, “पिछले एक महीने के दौरान हमने चेंगाडीह, नाला, कुंडहित, फतेहपुर जैसे सात स्थानों पर पुस्तकालय का निर्माण किया है। हम अगले 15 दिनों में 25 और पुस्तकालय बनाएंगे और इसका मूल्यांकन करने के बाद हमारी योजना सभी पंचायतों में इस तरह से 118 पुस्तकालयों को बनाने की है।”

- नागपुर के 66 वर्षीय दिलीप चित्रे ने 2018 में खुद ही अपने वैन को सोलर पॉवर्ड (Solar Van) कर दिया। वह अबतक इस गाड़ी से 4500 किलोमीटर की यात्रा कर चुके हैं। फिलहाल वह कार में लिथियम बैटरी का इस्तेमाल कर रहे हैं।
- दिलीप को अपने इस इनोवेशन को सही तरह से करने में लगभग 25 वर्ष का समय लगा है। वह पिछले दो दशक से भी ज्यादा समय से सोलर एनर्जी पर काम कर रहे हैं। उनका सबसे पहला आईडिया सोलर से चलने वाले वाहन बनाना था लेकिन शुरूआत में जब उन्हें सफलता नहीं मिली तो उन्होंने दूसरी चीजों में सोलर एक्सपेरिमेंट किए।
- साल 2003 में दिलीप ने अपना पहला एक्सपेरिमेंट ऑटो-रिक्शा पर किया था। उन्होंने इसके इंजन को इलेक्ट्रिक बैटरी से बदल दिया। उन्होंने इसे नागपुर के रीजनल ट्रांसपोर्ट ऑफिस में टेस्ट करने के लिए भी बहुत से प्रयास किए। उनका ऑटो-रिक्शा टेस्ट में पास हो गया लेकिन ज्यादा साधन न होने की वजह से वह अपने इस प्रोजेक्ट पर ज्यादा काम नहीं कर पाए। उन्होंने अपने ऑटो-रिक्शा की एक प्रेजेंटेशन बनाकर देहरादून के पेट्रोलियम कज़र्वेशन रिसर्च एसोसिएशन को भी भेजी। लेकिन वहाँ से भी उन्हें कोई जवाब नहीं मिला।

- मैंने जो जंगल तैयार किया है, उनमें से 15 हजार पौधे गाँव के तोक चामा में लगाए हैं। बाकी, इसके आस-पास के इलाकों में। इस काम में ग्रामीणों ने भी सहायता की है। मवेशी के लिए चारा जुटाने के लिए महिलाएं अक्सर जंगल में जातीं हैं। ऐसे में जंगली जानवरों का खतरा रहता है। ऐसे में जब गाँव में ही अपना जंगल तैयार हो जाएगा तब उन्हें सुदूर जंगल नहीं जाना पड़ेगा।”

- In an attempt to develop the nutritional status and transforming Meghalaya into a self-sufficient state in context of pork production thereby reducing the out-of-state import burden, the Meghalaya Chief Minister – Conrad K Sangma today laid the foundation stone for construction of the new dairy complex at Mukhla Umlangshor village in West Jaintia HIlls District.
- Sponsored by the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDP), the complex will be constructed at an approximate cost worth over 9 Crores.
- Addressing the gathering, Sangma informed that the project will provide employment opportunites to about 2000 plus farming communities, thereby addressing the shortage of milk production in the northeastern state.

- Relu Vasave, an Anganwadi worker from Nandurbar, Maharashtra, rows 14 kms on the Narmada to the remotest parts of her village to provide nutrition and supplements to expecting mothers and newborns
- In 2014, when Relu joined as an Anganwadi worker with the Zilla Parishad, little did she know that she would be required to row a boat to attend to pregnant women and newborns.Her job involves monitoring the health of pregnant women and children up to six years of age. Giving doses of medication and nutritional supplements, as per the schedule and government protocol is all a part of her duty.
- Rowing a stretch of 7 km each way requires two hours of her time but a motorboat can reduce the time taken by half or at least 45 minutes. It will also reduce the physical effort required,” Ramesh says.Relu’s husband says that a motor worth Rs 40,000 can be fitted to the small boat that she rows. “I have discussed the solutions, including getting a new motorboat, with the Zilla Parishad officials and hopefully we can get more support,” he adds.

- Karimul Haque (55), who is also referred to as ‘Ambulance Dada’—truly embodies the meaning of the word jugaad.
- Losing his mother due to the non-availability of an ambulance in time led him to start his own motorcycle ambulance in 1998. Since then he has ferried over 5,500 patients from across 20 villages in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district. In 2017, Karimul was also awarded with a Padma Shri for his service. Karimul is a stellar example of the phrase – ‘service above self’.
- Karimul has also gone one step further and converted a part of the land his house is built on to serve as a hospital. “We have tie-ups with doctors who also do video consultations now. Basic tests like sugar and blood pressure are also conducted at the hospital. In the case of an emergency, I am also trained to administer saline drips,” he says.
